High-intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)
SPDT 4 LIFE utilizes sound technology to treat some types of cancers and High-intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is one such procedure. It uses ultrasound energy to treat and destroy cancer cells
About the procedure
It’s a minimal or non-invasive method that directs high frequency sound waves to the cancer region. The whole procedure is radiation- exempted and doesn’t disturb the physiological homeostasis.
The high-intensity focused sound waves is directed to the affected area. When the tissues absorb the acoustic energy, their temperature is raised significantly, almost 195 degrees Fahrenheit within 2 to 3 seconds. This rapid increase in heat leaves the tissues destroyed. Note that cells lying around the focal zone remains completely unharmed.
Types of cancers treated with HIFU
Although the process primarily gained its eminence for treatment of prostate cancer, its has been successfully used to treat the following cancers also:
For prostate cancer, the method is universally recommended . Since the prostate is located deep inside the pelvis, the HIFU is done by putting a probe through the back passage (rectum). After the placement is done correctly, the ultrasound can direct the high-intensity beams straight into the (affected parts of) organ.
The treatment is best for a single tumor or a part of a large tumor. Tumors that have spread to more than one part of the body is not preferably treated through HIFU. For those patients that have been just diagnosed with cancer that is in its initial stages, this treatment can be of tremendous benefit.
Treatment at SPDT 4 LIFE
We suggest HIFU only after a thorough diagnosis of the patients’ health in terms of their physiological condition as well as the size of the tumor. The patients have walked out of their cancer with the help of this treatment from SPDT 4 LIFE. The best part is, like many other therapies provided at SPDT 4 LIFE, this one is also side-effects free.
